Eligibility

Enrollment is open to healthy preschool children two months and older of Tohoku University employees and students who are deemed to require childcare assistance due to the nature of their jobs/studies.
Applications are not taken for unborn children.
Additional Notes

Children enrolled in the nursery can continue attending while the mother is on maternity leave for another child.

Leaves of absence from the nursery may be taken for up to two months for special circumstances, such as when the mother returns to her parents’ home for childbirth.
- Nursery fees continue to be charged during leaves of absence.
- File a Notice of Leave before the child is taken out and a Notice of Return before the child returns to the nursery.
- The child’s enrollment will be revoked if the absence exceeds two months.

Your children can continue attending Kawauchi Keyaki Nursery School until the last day of the month in which your youngest child turns 1 year old (unless their birthday is on the first of the month, in which case your children can continue attending until the previous day, i.e., the last day of the previous month), as long as you make an application for continued enrollment to the municipality where you live, and it is approved.
In addition, if your youngest child is on a waiting list at the time of their 1st birthday, this period may be extended by up to 6 months if applied for (if they are on a waiting list when they turn 18 months old, this period can be extended for another 6 months).
- File a Request for Continued Enrollment along with a photocopy of the child’s health insurance card and other required documentation.
