The following policy outlines the Tohoku University Alumni and Outreach Office’s (referred to hereinafter as the Office) handling of personal information.

１．Information collection and use

The collection of personal information will be used for the purposes listed below. If personal information is used for purposes other than those listed, then the consent of the individual concerned shall be obtained in advance.

• ・To manage donations, issue receipts, and express gratitude to donors.
• ・To send materials or dealing with inquiries or requests about the Tohoku University Fund.
• ・To generate publicity and information about the University Fund
• ・For other activities related to the management and operation of the Tohoku University fund such as research, analysis and administrative planning)

２．Subcontracting personal information

Personal information may be entrusted to outside organizations for the purpose of correspondence or processing information. When outsourcing, Tohoku University will carefully select an organization that meets the safety standards set out in Tohoku University’s personal information management policy and carefully monitor the outside organization.

３．Providing personal information to third parties

The Office will manage personal information appropriately and, excluding exceptions set out in law, will not provide it to third parties without the user’s consent.

４．Disclosing, correcting, and deleting personal information

The Office shall respond to requests for disclosure, correction, or deletion of personal information held by the Office in a reasonable timeframe and only after confirming that the data belongs to the requester.

５．Personal information security measures

The Office will undertake preventive and corrective measures to minimize risks to personal information (unauthorized access, loss, destruction, falsification, and leakage) and ensure that personal information is maintained safely and accurately.

６．Improving personal information protection

The Office shall ensure that all staff and contractors handling personal information are aware of Tohoku University’s regulations on personal information protection, and continually strive to improve its practices.

７．Legal and regulatory compliance regarding personal information

The Office will comply with laws and regulations regarding personal information and Tohoku University’s Personal Information Protection Policy.

８．Revision of the personal information protection policy

This privacy policy may be amended from time to time. Changes will be notified on this page.

９．Others

In the event of participating Alumni Network Member Campaign, the user also agrees to the Tohoku University Alumni Network Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy.
