Structure and Governance

Educational and research activities at universities are broad and diverse: each academic and research field has their own styles of conducting research. Tohoku University is promoting the introduction of fixed-term or tenure track employment systems, which will enable us to reflect unique natures of academic disciplines and the visions of Tohoku University’s academic departments in our flexible and strategic recruitment activities to secure a wide range of teaching staff.

To promote the tenure track system, Tohoku University has announced to apply the tenure track system as a basic employment policy throughout the university. Its actual implementation is decided by the department head, based on the vision and dynamic employment strategy of the department.
